TEXT DESCRIPTION FOR OUR PROFESSIONAL APPS:

Easy, fast identification of the vascular plants of your state or larger regions.

99+% of all vascular native and naturalized plants known to grow wild in the state or region, including flowering plants, graminoids, conifers, and pteridophytes.

An average of 3 color photos per plant species.

Used by farmers, nature lovers, conservationists, hikers, botanists, students, teachers, wildflower enthusiasts, gardeners, nursery owners, and those curious about the natural world.

All photos are in the app; no need for an outside connection.

Built on over 25 years of experience creating interactive plant identification software.

One of our professional apps, which together cover 18 western and central states and Four SW Canadian provinces.

HOW IT WORKS:

Select plant characteristics, in any order, from over 50 lists of characteristics that match the plant to be identified. Plant characteristics are defined and illustrated.

With every selection the number of possible plants shrinks, often narrowing it down to 1 species after choosing as few as Three to Six characteristics.

At any point in the process, the application can be asked to list the best menus of characteristics to choose from, based on ease of use, effectiveness, and the list of plant species not yet eliminated from consideration.

You can confirm the accuracy of the plant identified by comparing it with photos and/or descriptive info about that plant, or by checking it versus references listed in the program.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

Menus of characteristics with descriptions and illustrations provide an interactive botanical glossary.

Book references with page numbers are provided for every species.

All data for every species is available.

The species list is alphabetized by common or scientific names, or you can do a search by entering a common or scientific name, or even part of a name.

Our apps are based on our comprehensive interactive keys for PCs, which are subsets of the largest and most extensive database of plant characteristics produced anywhere. We sincerely appreciate the individuals, agencies, and institutions over the years that have graciously allowed us to contain their copyrighted plant photos in our programs. Even with over 250 sources of photos, not all are of the highest quality. They are the best available and are included here for the support they provide for correct identifications.
